thankfully it was buffalo, a team you can afford to make mistakes with. I think Marchand should get elbowed in the head more often, woke him up.

Haha no kidding.

I didn't think the youngsters played too bad but you can definitely tell they lack the experience. Cute plays in the neutral zone would have been deadly with most other teams. Need to stop giving the puck away though.

If they lost last night there was a very good chance someone was getting moved. If Marchand doesnt get lucky on that 2nd goal, i have a very strong feeling he would have been wearing a new jersey by the end of the week.

Still think it's only October and it's just not time for a move. They need to continue to beat bad teams and tread water.

Agreed.

However how long do they wait? If Boston isn't more than a 500 team by mid December, do they go out and get help, or do they start acquiring assets? I think management still believes this team is a contender, so I can see them going out and getting a top line RW and sending someone like Marchand or Eriksson out of town.

I really don't see the B's targeting a forward right now. Griffith is starting to look good, 17-46 are getting back in sync, Pastrnak is tearing up the AHL so its only a matter if time before he gets a shot. The swedes have arguably been the best forwards this season. Kellys having a resurgence. The Bergeron line has been the only forward line not pulling their weight. If/when they start scoring it will help those other lines even more. B's NEED a top 4 d man. I totally understand why they thought Bart could take over Boychuks role, but that experiment has failed miserably. Krug looked good in the top 4 but I don't think its a coincidence he went down shortly after starting to play 20+ a night. They need d help.

Moving Marchand or Loui doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, team is built on offensive depth and while theoretically you're upgrading, not sure it does anything to address the hole in the lineup. I'd rather see them target a young but semi-established NHL RW. Atkinson, DSP, Jurco, Akesson with prospect/picks in return to add to the group.

I think they'll look for a cheap vet on the defensive side to help out as we get deeper into the season. Gotta think Bart is on his way out one way or another.

Guys are supposed to be healthy by then. I think things will look a lot better. Also there will be a clearer picture as to who is buying and who is selling.

The only problem I have with targeting the players you mentioned is is it worth it to spend assets on those guys when we don't even know if they'll perform better than Griffith? Am I the only person who thinks he's a good fit in our top 6? lol. He's got speed, he's a natural offensive talent, he plays both sides of the puck (not amazingly, but the efforts there) and drives the net with reckless abandon. I'm telling ya, once the Bergeron line gets going everyone will realize this forward group is still exceptional.

That would be great if he worked out. Then they could focus on getting a defenseman since apparently the Bruins need them?

Are you trying to tell me the B's don't need help on D?

I think they're still 1 short. Love Quaider but he's not a top 4 D man, he's not a good enough skater. Bart caved hardcore under pressure and like I said before I don't think its a coincidence Krug got hurt shortly after having his role expanded. Morrow and Trotman have the tools to fill that spot but neither are quite ready. I wish they'd have held off on trading Boychuk. PC assumed the young D would be ready to step up and he could use the assets/cap space to replace Iggy. As far as I'm concerned, Griffiths risen to the occasion more than any D man has. I don't think the need for a RW is as glaring as it was to start the year

It's a good point, I think it's just balancing assets, we're heavy with C prospects and could use some depth on the wing. A player like that might not be the answer, but it gives you more options as Spooner and Koko don't seem to be on track to play wing in Boston.

I'd really like to get a better look at koko, I really don't know much about him. I agree about Spooner though. If we can move him to help the team this year I'm all for it, I don't think he projects as a bruin going forward
